Well done to those who featured in the placings for the Burke and O’Connor trophies, held as virtual events on BBO over the weekend of 13-14 March.
The virtual Burke trophy (Open) was won by Marcin Rudzinski, Wojciech Gorczyca, Thomas MacCormac, Stephen Barr, and John Connolly, who came out on top in their final playoff over the team of Martin Brady, Sean O’Lubaigh, Paul Delaney, and Conor Boland (and in passing it’s great to see three junior players represented in the top two teams, though unfortunately all three are coming to the end of their junior careers). Third place went to Kate Daultrey, Peeter Brehov, Anne Keating, and Dermot O’Brien, with Kevin O’Dea, Liam Maher, Conor Moore, and Mick Lynch in fourth. The consolation final for non-qualifiers from the first two sessions was won by Betty & Dermot Cotter, Michael Lavelle, and Joe Higgins.
The virtual O’Connor trophy (Intermediates) was won by Mary C & Jim Shannon, Florence & Tony Jordan, with George Ryan, Sean Maguire, Teresa Cowman, and Trevor Murphy second, and Siobhan O’Sullivan, James Ward, Margaret Forde, and Rhona Bolger third.
Thanks to all those who took part, and to our hard-working directing crew of Fearghal O’Boyle, Mairead Basquille, and Diarmuid Reddan who made sure everything went off without a hitch.
