UPDATE (18 February): For tonight’s competitions, the tournament details to look for are: CBAI Novice Pairs (tournament 48770); CBAI Mixed Pairs (tournament 48783); and CBAI Gala Pairs (tournament 48790).

Saturday’s and Sunday’s should be easier to find – there won’t be many other CBAI clubs active at the same time, so just look for “CBAI”. For the Teams competition, the entry process is as follows:

  • On Sunday Morning log on to BBO and register with your partner as usual;
  • Ask your teammates to do the same at roughly the same time (say 9:20 a.m.);
  • You will now have 2 pairs registered as pairs within the competition;
  • One person then needs to go to the partnership desk and invite your teammates to join your team – effectively pairing the two pairs into one team for the event;
  • If you get this wrong BBO will randomly match you up with another pair at game time.

It is not difficult –  just be sure to look for the “partnership desk” banner (you may have to scroll your screen to the right a bit depending on what device you are using). If in doubt, please call either of the TDs – numbers below – but please try to do it in plenty of time for them to fix things rather than at the last minute! Thanks for your support for this Congress.

The CBAI’s Novice & Intermediate Congress will be held virtually over the weekend of 18-20 February on BBO, and will feature the following competitions:

  • Friday 18 February: Mixed Pairs (for Intermediates and Novices ONLY), Novice Pairs (Novices ONLY), and Gala Pairs (Intermediates and Novices ONLY), all one session starting at 19:30.
  • Saturday 19 February: Intermediate A Pairs, Intermediate B Pairs, both two sessions with a short break in between, starting at 11:00.
  • Sunday 20 February: Intermediate & Novice Teams, two sessions with a short break in between, starting at 11:00.

Entries online via http://competitions.cbai.ie. Pre-entry is required, and you will also need to log in to the relevant competition on BBO on the day – please try to be there no less than 15 minutes ahead of the start time. We recommend that you log on in plenty of time, in case of any technical issues. If you do experience any issues on the day, please contact either of the Tournament Directors – Diarmuid Reddan 086-8236618 or Bernard Higgins 087-9880115 – who will be able to assist you. The entry fee will be BB$5 per session, so BB$10 for the two-session events.

As with all our virtual events, this one will be played essentially for recreation; Masterpoints will be awarded, but national titles (where relevant) and monetary prizes will not.
