Don’t miss your chance to watch the country’s best pairs, plus one or two overseas guests, in action either in person or online this weekend (22-24 November).

The Regent Bridge Club in Dublin 4 is hosting the third running of the privately-sponsored Invitational Premier Pairs, in which twelve invited pairs, including many of Ireland’s top players, will battle it out over a gruelling 176 boards and seven sessions for the title of Premier Pairs champions.

The action starts at 14:00 on Friday and will conclude on Sunday at 17:30, and the field is Adam Mesbur & Nick FitzGibbon, Tom Hanlon & Hugh McGann, Peter Goodman & Mike Pownall, Cian Holland & Anna Onishuk, Rex Anderson & David Greenwood, Thomas MacCormac & Ronan McMaugh, BJ O’Brien & Dan McIntosh, Micheal O Briain & Padraig O Briain, Gay Keaveney & Enda Glynn, Ciaran Coyne & Donal MacAonghusa, John Carroll & Mark Moran, and Eddie Fitzgerald & Michael McDonagh.

Will the top prize go to one of the pairs from the current Irish Open team? Or one of the grey-haired (or in one obvious case, no-haired) veterans? Or perhaps one of the overseas visitors? Watch the action unfold either at the club, where kibitzers are welcome, or online on BBO, or follow the results at Fearghal O’Boyle’s website.
