Jill Kulchycky R.I.P.

We are shocked and deeply saddened to relate that one of our finest lady players, Jill Kulchycky, has passed away after a short illness at the age of just 59 years.

Jill has represented the CBAI in 8 Lady Milne Trophy events including a run of 6 consecutive years from 1999 to 2004, with 4 different partners – Helen Carroll, Mary Finn, Petra O’Neill & Clare Pippet.

She played in the annual match for the Sonya Britton Trophy against the NIBU on 9 different occasions, starting in 1991 playing with Mary Toale.

She played on a Camrose team with Teresa Rigney, and represented Ireland in 2 World Championships and 2 European Championships, the most recent in Opatija in 2014, playing with Teresa.

10 days ago, with Teresa, Jill  won the IBU Ladies Trials for the European Team Championships to be held in June in Ostende, in the process winning the newly presented Ciara Burns & Mary Finn Trophy.

Jill will be reposing in Colliers Funeral Home Old Connaught Ave, Cork Great, Bray from 3-5 on Sunday 4 March and her burial will take place on Monday next after Mass at 11.00 am in St Fergal’s Church, Ballywaltrim, Bray,

Our sincere sympathies go to Jill’s mother, Bridie, her sister Alison, their extended family and her many friends in bridge.

Jill will be sorely missed – may she rest in peace.
