European Championships


 

World Bridge Federation  (WBF)and European Bridge League (EBL) Events

Every even year, the WBF runs a World Junior Camp and

Youth Pairs championship. These are normally held are normally held in different Zones - Europe & North America.  In addition every even year the EBL runs a European Junior Pairs and Youth Camp.  This year they are been run concurrently Both events are open entry and applications should be made to the Irish Youth Bridge Committee . Every odd year the EBL runs Junior, School and Girls Team Championships.  The Irish Youth Bridge Committee will be running trials  in September/October this year to select the teams to represent Ireland (CBAI + IBU) in next years tournament.  Details will be published as soon as they are finalised.

TRIALS 2006-07

I.B.U. Junior Trials for Junior(under 25), Girls(under 25), and Schools (under 20) European Championships will take place in Templeogue Castle Community Bridge Centre on the Bank Holiday weekend of October 28th/29th. For junior/girls participants must be under 25 as at 01/01/2007. For schools, entrants must be under 20 as at 01/01/2007.

 

Conditions of entry:

 Fee: €40 per player. This includes dinner on the Saturday evening.

ENTRIES BY MONDAY 23rd.OCTOBER 2006.

 

Format: Pairs trials, to be scored against “open trials” datum.

             

Start Time:  Will be confirmed at a later date to coincide with the “Open trials” on the Saturday.

 

Squad Training: It is a requirement that squad members attend the coaching sessions that will be provided and will number around 5 sessions. These training weekends will determine which pairs (if any) plus reserves will represent Ireland at the championships. Should squad participants fail to show for these sessions a written warning will issue and further non compliance will result in their partnership losing their squad status. Depending upon entries the top 4 pairs in each category will qualify to form squads.
