The CBAI is delighted to host (albeit virtually) the 2022 junior home internationals, for the Peggy Bayer (Under-26) and Junior Camrose (Under-21) Trophies. While we are disappointed that the juniors will not be able to visit Ireland in person, we hope that they, and all those associated with their teams, will enjoy the events. Kibitzing is available, on a 20 minute-delayed basis, and you’ll find all the information you need, including updated scores, here.

The Irish preparations were disrupted by the very sad death of Ken Walsh of Dundalk, whose two daughters, Sheila and Denise, were due to play in our Under-26 team. We send our sincere condolences to Sheila and Denise, and to all Ken’s family and friends. Ken was a thorough gentleman, a very good bridge player, and a keen supporter of junior bridge, who was very proud of his two junior international daughters, and we will all miss him.

As a result, our NPCs Karel De Raeymaker and John Phelan have had to make some last-minute adjustments to our teams, and the Under-26 team in particular is inexperienced, featuring one pair originally slated to play in the Under-21s. Best of luck to the two Irish squads:

PEGGY BAYER TEAM: Luca Crone, Matthew O’Farrell, Tom Gorey, Adam Murphy, Isabel Burke, NPC John Phelan

JUNIOR CAMROSE TEAM: Sam Connolly, David Hoyne, Jason Doyle, Jartlath McDonnell, with Isabel Burke and Billy Stenson acting as substitutes for some sessions; NPC Karel De Raeymaeker

We hope that all the teams will enjoy the event. And may the best teams win!
