The CBAI President, Peter O’Meara, has convened a special meeting in the Templeogue Bridge Centre on Saturday November 17, at 2 p.m., with the sole purpose of putting together an updated strategy for the promotion and development of bridge in Ireland.
Attracting new players to the game is a major issue for bridge associations in most countries, including Ireland. As the current playing population ages, it is vital that we have new players coming through. Whilst urban and rural communities will have different areas of focus, there are few clubs in the country that would not welcome an influx of new members. It would also be great to be able to attract younger people to the game to reduce the age profile a little!
If you have any ideas to contribute on this topic, no matter how bizarre they may seem, please feel free to send them to us in advance, or, if you can make it along to the meeting, you will be very welcome. You might just let us know in advance that you’re coming.
If we all put our heads together on this, I’m sure we’ll be amazed at what ideas we can come up with!
Paul Porteous, Chief Executive CBAI
