A big thank you to all the volunteers who manned, and womanned, the CBAI stand at the recent 50 Plus Show at the RDS. This exhibition, which enables providers to present their wares to the over-50s, is a very useful source of promotion for bridge.
Over the course of the two days, we signed up well over 100 people for a follow-up call in relation to bridge classes once the teaching plans are known in late-summer, sold bridge gifts and books, chatted to existing bridge players and encouraged them to get their friends to take classes, and generally represented bridge in a very friendly and professional manner to an important element of our demographic. As part of the Show, bridge teacher Michael O’Loughlin also gave some demonstration sessions on bridge to people who had signed up beforehand.
It’s very likely that we will take the stand at the 50 Plus Show again next year, and it is usually around St Patrick’s Day. If you’d like to be involved in the promotion (we work in two-hour shifts, so that’s all the commitment that’s required), please let us know.
