Well done to the Bray Congress committee on a very enjoyable weekend of events in Dun Laoghaire Bridge Club over the weekend – the first live competitions of the new season, expertly managed by TD John Royds.

The prizewinners were:

  • Congress Pairs: 1st Ann O’Connell & Valarie Burke-Moran; 2nd Marcin Rudzinski & Wojciech Gorczyca; 3rd Kate Daultrey & Sean Maguire
  • Intermediate Pairs: 1st Fiona McGoldrick & Mary Kane; 2nd John Coulter & Paul Clinch; 3rd Sean & Aine Costello
  • Congress Teams: 1st Martin Brady, David Dunne, Paul Delaney, Tomas Roche; 2nd Carol-Ann Cummins, John Noonan, Sandra Newell, Michael McAuliffe; 3rd Michelle Moloney, Marcin Rudzinski, Brid Kemple, Terry Walsh.

If you haven’t been back to live bridge yet, and have forgotten just how much fun it is, here’s a short (and not very professional – sorry!) video to remind you just what you’re missing!

Well done also to Nicola O’Dowd for her bridge promotion session at the Trim Agricultural Show on Sunday – a very innovative set-up, in much better than expected weather. Hopefully she got plenty of interest, and lots of sign-ups for classes in the autumn. The CBAI can supply all materials (well … apart from the camper-van, you’ll have to speak to Nicola about that!) for any club or area that would like to hold a promotion activity to encourage some new members. Just give us a call.
