The weekend saw the finals of the National Confined Pairs and Teams Championships (for the Lambert Cup and Cooper Cup respectively) and the National Novice Pairs Championship (for the JJ Murphy Trophy) at the Templeogue Bridge Centre, with a fantastic turnout of 66 pairs and 53 teams in the confined events, and 33 pairs in the novice competition, which meant that the playing room was pretty much full to capacity on both days. It was particularly gratifying to see so many novices: the majority of them were playing in their first serious competition, and we thank them for their bravery, and hope they enjoyed the day and will be back for more!
