We are very sad to report the death of Anne Dillon of Cork, after a long illness.
Anne was a key part of one of the great Irish bridge dynasties, both by birth and by marriage. Her father, Eddie Barry, played for Ireland, as have her brother Pat and her sister Gráinne (Barton), while her late husband, Denis, was also an international player and a former National President of the CBAI.
Anne herself was a player of the highest calibre. She was capped on five occasions for Ireland, in partnership with sister Gráinne, and won six national titles, including one with husband Denis. She also played her part in the administration of the game, serving as Treasurer of the South Munster Region for many years, and was a constant support for Denis in his various roles. Anne was always an elegant and courteous presence at the bridge table, and will be greatly missed by all her friends, especially those at the Cork Bridge Club. We send our sympathies to Gráinne, her brothers Pat, Denis, Michael, and Owen, and all Anne’s extended family and friends. May she rest in peace. Funeral arrangements
