We are also pleased to report another bridge player turned author. Following in the footsteps of George Ryan, Mary Stanley, and Sarah Gilmartin (and doubtless others) is Betty Cody, who has recently published her debut novel, The Brightest Star. It’s available on Amazon, and from all good bookstores. It’s subtitled “A 19th Century Story of Tragedy and All-Consuming Love”. Best of luck to Betty in her new venture.
And for those of you looking for a good game of bridge over the new year period, the Regent Bridge Club in Dublin is offering the Wigoder Open Swiss Teams, for Masters, on New Year’s Day (start 13:30), and the Cairnduff Open Intermediate Pairs the following day (2 January) at the same time. Both events are in the Regent’s premises at 25 Waterloo Road, and pre-entry is required. See the club’s website for more details. And in the first weekend of the new year, the Waterford Congress Committee will hold a mini-congress on BBO, with Gala Open Pairs for Masters/Intermediate As, and Intermediate Bs/Novices, on both Friday 6 and Saturday 7 January at 19:30 (separate single-session events in each case). Entries in advance to John Phelan, including your real name, your BBO name, and your grade.
