The CBAI hosted its first event of the new season on 16/17 September, with the Duais an Uachtarain (President’s Prize) being held in the Greenhills Hotel, Limerick. The competition returned to its traditional three-session format this season, a development welcomed by all the participants.

A big thank you to our hosts, CBAI President Gordon Lessells and his North Munster colleagues, for their warm welcome and thorough preparation. The venue was excellent, and was given a nice practice outing in advance of the upcoming Limerick Congress in October. Thanks also to our Tournament Director Diarmuid Reddan, who did his usual excellent and unflappable job.

The winners were BJ O’Brien & Derek O’Gorman, who successfully defended the title they won in Fermoy in 2022. Joan Kenny & Teresa Rigney were second, with Kate Daultrey & Sean Maguire third, and John Noonan & Carol-Ann Cummins fourth. The best Area Masters were Noel Bradfield & John Lyons, while Margaret McCarthy & Declan Harte were the best Intermediates. The sessional prizes went to Jeannie Fitzgerald & David Coyne, Steve Bearpark & Seamus Boyle, and Pat O’Mahony & Jim Stokes.
