As 2026 is a European National Teams Championship year, we will have two sets of international trials this season, one set for the IBU to select the teams for the Europeans, and one set for the CBAI to select the teams for the home international series. It will be a very busy season for those wishing to play in trials!
The CBAI’s International Committee has recently undertaken a survey of players to ascertain their preferences as regards the dates, times, and formats of their trials, and a Zoom session will be held this Thursday at 6 p.m. to allow for a dialogue with potential triallists. All such players are welcome to attend, and the link was sent out by email a few weeks ago (with the survey) to all relevant parties. If anyone didn’t get the link, or has mislaid it, please email info@cbai.ie and we will resend it. This session is intended to deal with CBAI trials matters, not IBU ones, although some members of the IBU’s International Committee will also be in attendance, and should be able to answer questions that arise on the IBU’s trials. It is envisaged that the CBAI’s International Committee will make a decision on the dates and formats of this season’s trials shortly after this meeting.
The IBU’s International Committee has decided on its trials dates, which are as follows:
- Open & Women’s Trials, 19-21 September and 26-28 September (if required), in the Templeogue Bridge Centre
- Mixed Trials, 6-8 February and 27 February-1 March (if required), venues to be confirmed
- Senior Trials, 10-12 March (midweek), venue to be confirmed
The Preliminary notices for the Open and Women’s Trials are attached below. The closing date for entry for both of these trials is 21 June 2025, to be accompanied by the entry fee of €600 per team and an official entry form, which is at Appendix 2 of the Notice. Notices for the Mixed and Senior Trials will be published in due course.
