Dublin South Region will hold a special outing of the Kay Downes Trophy this Friday, 22 April, in the Templeogue Bridge Centre, starting at 19:30.

Normally this competition is for Novice Pairs from the Dublin South Region itself. For this year, to recognise the special circumstances in which we find ourselves, and to encourage novices back to the table (or perhaps even to the actual table for the first time if they are recent learners!), the event will be open to ALL affiliated novice players, regardless of region. It will also be FREE to enter. Please contact Máiréad Ní Oistín on (087) 6750393. Teachers are welcome to attend to help their novices settle in if they wish, and the event will be run in a friendly and supportive environment aimed at encouraging players relatively new to the game.

This competition honours one of the great stalwarts of Irish bridge, Kay Downes, a former President of the Association, amongst other roles. It is just possible that Kay will attend to present the prizes; if not, her grand-daughter, Niamh Gormally, the current President of Dublin South, may do the honours.
