The National Pairs Championships were held over the weekend in the Falls Hotel, Ennistymon, with a full turnout for the Open and Intermediate A events and a near-full entry for the Intermediate Bs. The prizewinners were:
- Davidson Trophy (Open Pairs): 1st Cian Holland & Derek O’Gorman (South Munster); 2nd Maureen & Bob Pattinson (North Munster); 3rd Joan Kenny & Enda Glynn (Western) Results
- Laird Trophy (Intermediate A Pairs): 1st Celine Smyth & Anne Kearney (South Eastern); 2nd Tess O’Hara & Carol O’Sullivan (South Munster); 3rd Frank Reynolds & Ann Nolan (Western) Results
- Civil Service Cup (Intermediate B Pairs): 1st Tom Roche & Joan Peppard (North Midland); 2nd Madeline Heeney & Michael Spillane (North Eastern); 3rd Dermott Bradshaw & Patricia Kinch-Underwood (Mid-Leinster) Results
