We are sorry to report the death of Rose O’Farrell, a stalwart of bridge in the Eastern Region, who also represented Ireland, in a formidable partnership with Patsy Meehan, and enjoyed great success in domestic competitions, including winning Greystones Player of the Year on several occasions. Rose was the matriarch of a large bridge family, with sons Fergal, Brian, and Heber all prominent players over the years; her late husband Paddy was also a very handy player. Away from the bridge table, Rose was a much-loved grandmother and great-grandmother, with no fewer than 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. We send our condolences to all Rose’s family and friends. May she rest in peace.
