The bridge calendar remains extremely busy. This coming weekend (17-19 February) sees the Novice & Intermediate Congress in Cork (Clayton Silver Springs Hotel) and the Bankers Congress in Dublin (25 Waterloo Road); entries for both remain open on our website. And our juniors will be playing their home international championships in Altrincham, England for the Peggy Bayer (Under-20) and Junior Camrose (Under-26) Trophies.

Good luck to the Irish teams, which are: Junior Camrose – Luca Crone, Matthew O’Farrell, Isabel Burke, Sheila Walsh, Denise Walsh, Leah Finnegan, and NPC Karel De Raeymaeker; Peggy Bayer – Adam Murphy, Tom Gorey, David Hoyne, Phedra Kingston, Eve Connell, Klara Flanagan, and NPC Margaret Murphy. As ever, the strong English teams will be the ones to beat. You’ll find a full programme here, and kibitzing and commentary has been organised by the hosts, on RealBridge. Use this link to watch.

And finally, if you’re in the mood for some improvement in your bridge game, Peter Pigot will be running a hybrid (combined face-to-face and online) seminar for advanced players this Friday 17 February at 12:30. The venue for the face-to-face participants is St Paul’s Glenageary. The topic of the seminar is “Handling Pre-empts & Declarer Play Simplified” and the cost is €30 for a three-hour session with a break. Contact Peter on (086) 8146230 to sign up or for more details.
